My Top 5 Recommended Reads
This book is awesome! It is very well thought out and also serves as somewhat of a product review for different types of gear. It will benefit you regardless of your skill level as a prepper. You will get recommended lists of items to add to your Bug Out Bag as well as the positive and negative for different types of items so you can weigh out your own pros and cons of what you should and shouldn’t carry. There is even a chapter in this book that talks about protection and self defense.

This is another book that I highly recommend. I like this book because it is written in a very simple and easy to understand manner, not just experts in prepping. Another aspect that I enjoyed about this book is that it doesn’t try to scare the hell out of you with a bunch of talk of violence, death and destruction. It really is like a reference guide for what it will take to survive.

If you’re looking for a book that offers a little different perspective, then this one is for you. Written by Tess Pennington, she offers insights on preparedness from a female perspective. Again, I like this read because it is not all about an end of the world scenario. It is relevant for the current possibilities that we face and real world disasters. If you take the time to read the reviews on this book, you will find that many people said this one is a must read, and hands down the best prepping book they have ever read.

If you don’t have a pre-planned Bug out Location and would not necessarily be looking to run from the city or suburbs, then this one is for you. What I love about this book is that it takes into consideration that the majority of people live in cities or suburbs and as much as they may want to leave, that just won’t be an option for them. So if you fall into that category, this one is right up your alley. Even if you do plan to leave your city or suburb, I would still recommend this book as there were some other strategies and tips that I had not previously considered.

My favorite thing about this book is the focus on the scenarios and situations that are most likely to happen. If you are looking for a book about the zombie apocalypse or the world wide devastation caused by solar flares that give preppers a bad rap, then this is NOT for you! The other thing that I found different about this book was that each chapter begins with a different scenario to get you thinking about how prepared you are for each event.
